TruSens Z3000AP

Features
  • Coverage area: 750 sq. ft.
  • Fan speeds: 5
  • Purification: prefilter, carbon filter, True HEPA filter, UV
  • Auto mode: yes
  • Night mode: yes
  • Dimensions: 13” x 13.1” x 31.9”
  • Weight: 17.9 lbs.

Other features: air quality monitor, UV light, 2/4/8/12-hour setting, 360-degree DuPont filtration, dual airflow

The TruSens Z3000AP is an extremely stylish air purifier and it draws in the air from 360º which gives it a very balanced level of performance in any room. This unit is regarded as one of the best air purifiers in the world, let’s take a look at why we’ve made it our editor’s pick for this list.

One of the best things about the Z3000AP is that it’s a remote pod unit that you can place anywhere. As long as the sensors are activated this air purifier will clean the surrounding air. The portability is helpful if you want to move the unit from room to room but it’s also useful in a larger room too. Eventually the cleanliness of the air will become even but TruSens guarantee that the Z3000AP will run at the correct fan speed until all of the air in the room is purified!

The purified air is produced at both the top and front of the unit which makes the dispersal far more effective than many other air purifiers. The air filters are DuPont true HEPA models that have a washable pre-filter (to remove dust and pet dander) and an activated carbon filter (to deal with smoke). An UV-C germicidal light in the ZP3000AP kills bacteria, mold and viruses to make your indoor air healthier.

What we like: The flexibility of the remote pod.

What could be better: Reminders to wash the filter.

What do we love it for?
  • One user described the Z3000AP as “A well thought out air purifier that works”
  • There are 4 fan speeds and a 2,4,8 and 12 hour timer
  • A room coverage of 750 sq. ft.

TruSens Z2000AP

Features
  • Coverage area: 375 sq. ft.
  • Fan speeds: 4
  • Purification: prefilter, carbon filter, HEPA type filter, UV
  • Auto mode: yes
  • Night mode: yes
  • Dimensions: 8” x 8” x 22”
  • Weight: 12.3 lbs.

Other features: air quality monitor, 2/4/8/12-hour setting, UV light, touch control, carry handle

The TrueSens Z2000AP sits in the middle of the range with a HEPA type rather than a true filter. This unit has half the coverage of the Z3000AP at 375 sq. ft. but sometimes that’s enough to get the job done. Like its older sibling the Z2000AP has a four-stage filtration system with a washable pre-filter to capture dust and hair. The next stage is the carbon filter to cut out odors and then the aforementioned HEPA type filter. This model may not be able to remove some of the smaller particulates, such as: mold, pollen and allergens. But, like the Z3000AP the Z2000AP will remove around 99.9% of harmful airborne pollutants.

The TruSens Z2000AP also has the PureDirect technology that increases the airflow significantly. It has the same auto mode that selects fan speed for you based on the current air quality situation. Both of these units also have the SensorPod system that can be placed in other parts of the room to sense the air quality and relay that data to the base unit. Finally, the Z2000AP has the same timer system and it will turn off automatically when the air is cleaned.

Taking care of both the Z3000AP and Z2000AP is simple, the pre-filters should be cleaned at least once per month or more often if you have pets. A filter change indicator informs you when it’s time to replace the carbon filter and the UV bulb that disinfects the air. The cost of replacement filters and bulbs is very reasonable and they tend to last for at least 12 months.

What we like: The automatic responses.

What could be better: The filter.

    What makes it stand out?
  • One user reported “It automatically responds to air particulate concentration”
  • A room coverage of 375 sq. ft.

TruSens Z1000AP

Features
  • Coverage area: 250 sq. ft.
  • Fan speeds: 3
  • Purification: carbon filter, HEPA type filter, UV
  • Auto mode: no
  • Night mode: no
  • Dimensions: 7” x 7” x 17”
  • Weight: 7.7 lbs.

Other features: DuPont filtration, dual airflow, PureDirect technology, Turbo cleaning mode

The TrueSens Z1000AP is the smallest air purifier in the range and this makes it an affordable option for those on a tighter budget. The room coverage for this unit is only 250 sq. ft. but it’s a good size for a nursery or smaller bedroom. This particular model has a three stage filtration system with a combined carbon pre-filter, a HEPA type filter and the Ultraviolet sanitizing bulb.

The Z1000AP still has some of the features found on its two larger and more expensive siblings. It has the filter replacement indicator which means you will always know when it’s time to change the filters without guessing. This unit also has PureDirect airflow technology to distribute the purified air evenly throughout the home.

What we like: The UV sanitation.

What could be better: The filter is not a true HEPA filter.

    Why is it special?
  • One user reported that “It is nice and quiet and I have slept much better since purchasing”
  • A room coverage of 250 sq.ft.
  • The most budget friendly option

Things to Consider

With the variety of air purifiers on the market, it can be tricky to choose the best one for your requirements. Here we’ll explore the features to consider and questions to common questions to help you make your purchase decision.

Why TruSens air purifier?

3 Best TruSens Air Purifiers - Modern Design and Advanced Techology!

The TruSens Air Purifier range we’ve shown here has a lot of design features that make them a market leader. From a purely aesthetic view the design is extremely modern, all three units feature a circular configuration that is increasingly popular. TruSens also opted for a touch control system and bright display to make it easier to control these units. This may seem like a minor point but analog controls would ruin the lines and if you’re going to have an air purifier on display it may as well look attractive. When it comes to performance TruSens have included a lot of filtration technology in these three air purifiers. The largest two units have a four filter system and the smaller Z1000AP has a three filter system. This makes the Z3000AP and Z2000AP an ideal choice if you want to disinfect your air instead of just filtering out the bacteria and trapping it in the unit.

Features to consider when choosing an air purifier by TruSens

There is a variety of TruSens air purifiers, so here we’ll look at the most important features to consider.

Coverage area

Most modern air purifiers are designed to clean the air in spaces from 160 sq. ft, up to around 1,000 sq. ft. The most common sizes in domestic use today from smallest to largest, include:

  1. 200 sq. ft.
  2. 300-325 sq. ft.
  3. 465 sq. ft.
  4. 700 sq. ft.
  5. 1,000 sq. ft.

This all seems very impressive, but it’s important to understand that we don’t have a clear standard for what a room size rating truly means. Certain manufacturers will advertise that the unit can purify all the air at least once per hour. Others will state that their equipment can clean the air from 2-5 times every hour! This makes it hard to make an informed choice and you need to research each air purifier carefully.

Our advice is to follow four simple rules before you make a final decision, they are:

  1. If you don’t have allergies buy a unit that is rated for the size of room.
  2. If you have allergies but don’t own pets get a model that has 25-50% more room coverage than you need.
  3. If you don’t have allergies but you own pets stick to 25-50% as above.
  4. If you have allergies and own pets get a unit that has 100% more room coverage.

Timer

Many smaller air purifiers don’t have the timer settings that you find on larger models. This means that you cannot run the fan at a faster speed for a few hours automatically. But you can alter the fan speed setting manually if you remember.

Purification levels

One the two larger models TruSens have gone with four levels of air purification. The initial three layers are found on virtually any other air purifier, they are: a pre-filter, a carbon pre-filter and a HEPA filter. Now, as you read in our review only the Z3000AP at the top of the range has a true HEPA filter. This is a very efficient filter that can trap very tiny particles down to 1 micron in size. But, even a HEPA filter cannot catch everything and that’s where the final filtration stage is essential. TrueSens have added an Ultraviolet (UV) bulb to sterilize and disinfect the air. UV light is highly effective in this role and we see it in use at the dentist and water filtration systems too. When the bacteria, germs and viruses are killed they cannot circulate back into our indoor air to make us feel sick. What’s great about this range of TruSens air purifiers is that every model has a UV filter stage!

Another great design feature is that these TruSens air purifiers have a dual airflow design. This means that you can change the direction of the purified air to meet your current needs. The air is actually separated into a pair of independent air streams. In many other types of air purifiers you’re limited to having the air being blasted in a single direction. You may find that you need to alter the orientation of the unit to get the performance that you need. But, with the TruSens models on our list you can get your air flowing in two directions at the same time!

Fan speeds

3 Best TruSens Air Purifiers - Modern Design and Advanced Techology!

The best way to think about the fan speed is to remember that it’s the speed that the air is cleaned. So, when the fan is operating at a higher speed it’s cleaning more cubic feet or air per minute (CFM) than a lower setting. All three of the TruSens air purifiers on our list have multiple settings to select. In order of the highest to lowest, they are:

  1. Z3000AP – 5 fan settings.
  2. Z2000AP – 4 fan settings.
  3. Z1000AP – 3 fan settings.

You don’t want to run any air purifier on the highest fan setting constantly because it places additional stress on the machine. But, when you have more control over the various fan speeds you have more precise control over the airflow and indoor air quality (IAQ) in your rooms.

Auto mode and night mode

If you’re a light sleeper it’s handy to have an auto or night mode to run the unit and turn off the lights without sacrificing performance. Both the Z3000AP and the Z2000AP have these two features but the Z1000AP does not.

Noise level

It’s easy to simply look at performance data and base your choice of new air purifier on those stats alone. But, it’s important to understand that this is a machine that you will be living with day to day. it will be running in the background during the day and night when you will be asleep. So, you need to choose an air purifier that’s quiet, ideally less than 50dB – 60dB (decibels) which is the noise rating of an average modern refrigerator. This information is typically found on the air purifier packaging or the manufacturers website if you cannot find it elsewhere. All of the TruSens air purifiers on our list are in the 30dB (Z1000AP) up to 60dB (Z3000AP) range.

Air quality mode

Both the TruSens Z3000AP and Z2000AP air purifiers have the SensorPod air quality displays. This is a color coded ring on the unit that shows the current air quality as good, moderate or poor. The air purifier then works on those readings automatically to improve the IAQ in that room. As a budget unit, the Z1000AP does not have this mode.

Replacement filters

Most manufacturers recommend that you replace your air purifier filters or clean them every 6-12 months if they are pleated or every 3 months if they are activated carbon filters. The TruSens units on our list have an indicator that tells you when it’s time to change or clean the filters. Filters can vary a great deal in cost but those used in a larger unit such as the Z3000AP typically cost around $20 or more. A good activated charcoal filter will cost around $50 or more. The price of a UV replacement bulb is negligible.

Dimensions and weight

3 Best TruSens Air Purifiers - Modern Design and Advanced Techology!

The smallest air purifiers on the market are designed to sit on your desk and they are easy to pick up and move. The largest units are not portable at all and they remain stationary in a larger building. As far as air purifiers that you can use in your home you will notice that some such as the Z1000AP are easy to carry. But, the largest TruSens air purifier on our list the Z3000AP only weighs just under 18 lbs which is still easy enough to carry for most people. Bear in mind that the size of your air purifier will determine the room coverage that can be cleaned efficiently. It can be tricky to find a happy medium between portability and coverage if you have trouble lifting. If you struggle lifting objects you may want to have more than one air purifier in the rooms that you use regularly.

Warranty

Every TruSens air purifier on our list is supplied with a 2 year warranty that guarantees that it will not have any manufacturer defects. If you do have a problem don’t worry because TruSens have an excellent reputation for customer service. The company can be contacted via phone, email or you can fill out an online form on the TruSens website. If anything happens to your TruSens air purifier you will discover that the support is friendly and helpful.

Our verdict

As you can see, TruSens has an excellent line of air purifiers. Which is the best TruSens air purifier for your home will depend on your specific requirements. From the budget friendly Z1000AP, which can provide coverage for up to 250 square feet to the mid range Z2000AP with PureDirect technology, the models all offer superb functionality.

However, the stand out choice as the best TruSens air purifier has to be the top of the line Z3000AP. This is a stylish model that can cover up to 750 square feet. What makes the Z3000AP so great is its portability. It is a remote pod that can be used practically anywhere, but it also has sensors that activate when the surrounding air contains particulates. It will run at the optimal fan speed until your room air is purified.
